Bad dream

I had an anxiety dream last night about being late for work. Which is odd because I don't have a job. But in the dream I was working in a very smart office and I got there late and wearing tracksuit bottoms and a grubby tee-shirt, and everybody looked at me as if I were some kind of strange, anti-social weirdo.

It's lucky I don't really work...  [More...]

My second favourite Japanese cartoon series

Out of all the cartoons I've come across, Carnage Nun Migumi is the best; the combination of insane violence and graphically detailed sex is a winning one. Of course there are other Japanese cartoons that follow a similar formula, but often they're rendered less interesting by attempts to include a plot. The writers of CNM understand that...  [More...]

Podcast #1

In this podcast, I talk about the first time I lost my virginity, which is something some people on YouTube wanted to hear about for some reason.  [More...]

Keeping it in the family

There was quite a lot about nepotism in the news recently - first in the proper news about British members of parliament giving jobs to their sons and wives, and then in internet news about a lad called Max getting a blog on the Guardian website, while his Dad is an occasional writer for the paper. And as so often happens when you hear about...  [More...]

Giving something back

I have a program in my computer called Skype, that's a kind of messenger application that also lets you make phone calls to people. I don't personally have anybody to call; I mean, I would probably call my sister if I could, because we haven't spoken for years and I'd like to know what she's doing, but I haven't got her number so it's impossible....  [More...]

Interminably dull financial crisis news

There's lots of stuff in the news these days about credit crunches and house prices and falling interest rates and the like. I can't claim to understand any of it, I'm not an economist. I don't even really understand the terminology.

The interest rate, for instance, is possibly the most boring subject on earth, so why it's called the interest...  [More...]

My toenails

I cut my toenails this morning. They were really long, it must be a while since I did it. I thought about letting them grow, and maybe taking a photo every day and turning it into a timelapse film. If I kept it up for a few years it might look quite impressive.

But then I thought about the practicality, and worried that I might get a toenail...  [More...]

Jesus wants more friends

Someone pointed me to this link to a religious leaflet that they'd found. It's quite interesting.

But I don't really understand something about the evangelist logic illustrated here. In their analogy, I'm a terrible felon standing in front of a judge; I'm guilty of murder and...  [More...]

I have a blog now.

This is my blog. It's like a diary, only it's public so that everybody in the world can read it if they want to.
People put different things in their blogs. My friend Grant has a blog and mostly he puts links to news stories about the ever-encroaching new world order and how we're being spied on. My ex-wife has a blog too, but she never puts...  [More...]
